Student Small/Neuro Instruments

Most programs require a high (C-512) and low frequency (C-128) tuning fork for neuro, auditory, and conduction testing, reflex hammer, penlight, tape measure, eye chart, digital thermometer, and themometer covers for a complete physical diagnosis exam.  Most programs recommend a Taylor reflex hammer.  Other recommended hammers are the Queen Square, Buck, Troemner, and Babinski hammers.  These hammers are lighter (Buck, Queen) or heavier (Troemner, Dejerine), longer (Queen, Babinski Telescoping) or shorter (Buck) with varying size heads for different reflex and neurological tests.  Most programs require the Snellen pocket eye chart over the Rosenbaum.  The 1630 penlight is a good reusable penlight for the med student years.  The Welch Allyn Halogen penlight provides the longest life with replacement lamps available for purchase.
